Demurrage and Detention

West Coast Industrial Express (WCIE) announces a tariff rule change to Demurrage and Detention Charges on Carrier’s Containers and Special Equipment effective August 1, 2010.

Per-Diem Charges on Carrier Containers and Special Equipment

Free Time begins the day after delivery of the container and special equipment for stuffing or discharge of the container or special equipment from vessel.

Free Time: 7 calendar days commencing at 12:01 a.m. of the first calendar day following the delivery of the container or special equipment for stuffing/loading or the discharge of the container or special equipment from the vessel at destination.

For each 24 hours or fraction thereof, commencing the first day after 7:00am (local time) following expiration of free time and ending at 7:00am (local time) following return of empty container or special equipment to Carriers berth after unloading, charges shall be:

20 ft Containers – $30.00
40 ft Containers – $30.00
20 ft. Special Equipment – $50.00
40 ft. Special Equipment – $50.00

These charges apply only to container and special equipment rental/usage, and does not apply to any charges which will be considered separate and billable by the terminal. Container and special equipment detention to apply on containers and/or special equipment after delivery to Carrier’s nominated terminal from time of first vessel sailing after scheduled cut-off to time containers and/or special equipment load to a vessel, unless outside of Shipper’s control.

Container and special equipment detention to be charged at same rate as container and special equipment demurrage.
